The first step in the process is to have a confirmed neurodiversity diagnosis, such as ASD or ADHD, from a qualified source, such as a physician, neurologist, or psychologist.
To apply for Award Behavioral Health services, please fill out our inquiry form. We may also request reports confirming the diagnosis for your child as part of the new family onboarding procedure. Our intake team should contact you within 24-48 hours for the next steps.
Child Assessment
Once a diagnosis has been established, our licensed and board-certified behavioral analyst (BCBA) schedules an assessment to see what services Award Behavioral Health can provide to support the child and family.
Our BCBAs create an assessment report for every child or family that applies to the Award Behavioral Health program. The report generated as part of the assessment may also include results from additional tests, screenings, tools, or interviews with the child and family.
Such assessments can be performed by a qualified professional for insurance purposes to apply for ABA services or be completed by a care manager for access to HCBS.
At Award Behavioral Health, our licensed BCBA will work directly with your child to generate a comprehensive assessment report. The process can take up to 8 hours and may be performed during a scheduled in-home visit. Upon completion, an extensive evaluation report will be written by the BCBA.
This report forms the basis for the treatment and support plan for the child and family. This report can also be sent to the child’s insurance company for review and approval of ongoing therapy hours.Â
On-going therapy hours may vary based on the approval. Typically, insurance is likely to approve an average of 10-30 hours of support per week.
Additionally, weekly supervision hours and treatment planning hours may also be included.
Therapy Services
If insurance is approved for ABA therapy for a child, the schedule is created as per the treatment plan detailed in the assessment report. The child will have one-on-one time with their assigned BCBA for ABA therapy.Â
Our therapy teams represent great diversity and cultural backgrounds, have fluency in multiple languages, and can cater to families’ specific needs.
If insurance is not available, Award Behavioral Health can offer HCBS support for affected families based on the plan created by the care manager.Â
Therapy services for HCBS can include many types of supportive service depending on the child and family’s needs. It can be filled out by various providers, ranging from organizational help for the home, making a grocery run, to setting up art therapy or music therapy sessions for the child.
Award Behavioral Health coordinates and schedules these services for the family so that their daily struggles can be eased and they can continue to care for their child in the comfort of the home environment without the need for institutionalization.
